Ben and Keri managed to tie their love of baseball into their wedding in both fun and stylish ways. We absolutely love their use of vintage Cracker Jack boxes, and – of course – their stop at the Mercer Tavern for photos. Read on for more details about their wedding, and more of the sweet images and details!

Tell us about your wedding! How was the planning process? What were some of the most memorable parts of your day?
We got engaged in Barcelona, Spain in June of 2014. We spent another month travelling throughout much of Europe, blissfully unaware of the wedding planning challenges awaiting us at home. Upon return, we quickly learned of the difficulties locking down a venue of your choice during the short summer months of Edmonton. For two indecisive people, finding a match of dates and venue that fit our specific budget and location needs proved difficult. We were happy and thought we had the perfect venue and date after much deliberation we locked in a late August wedding at La Cite Francophone in the french quarter.
No more than a month later we get a call from the events coordinator saying that the date was in fact double booked as they were to host some of the fringe festival festivities. This was truly an emotional time for the both of us, after a few stressful nights, several tears, and discussions with our families regarding dates we were able to settle on June 6, 2015. Later on we would look back and realize we actually preferred the spring wedding.
The approach we had to our process was that to keep costs low, but still include all the details you would expect to see in a full scale wedding. We really wanted to use as many local vendors as possible, we also did the vast majority of the decorations DIY which was a large cost savings. We were very hopeful to do the ceremony outside, which was also to be held at La Cite Francophone, but knew we wouldn’t know until the morning of the day.
The day of the wedding came and we certainly lucked out because it was absolutely gorgeous, mid 20s with a slight breeze. The guests sat in the courtyard and we had a guitarist playing and singing as entertainment. After the ceremony we were able to enjoy some drinks with the wedding party at Mercer Tavern, we also took some great pictures. This was some of the best time spent during the day to really take it in and enjoy the moment with our bridal party.
Upon return for the evening reception we entered the room and completed our first dance as a couple, the food provided by Café Bicyclette was delicious and the venue provided a great indoor/ outdoor atmosphere. We left that evening with our hearts so full, only to arrive at our beautifully decorated Matrix Hotel suite.
