Today’s post comes to us from Katie of Katie Burnett Photography – she’s got some great ideas for throwing a bachelorette party in Edmonton. Enjoy!
As a member of the I Have Been A Bridesmaid a Million Times Club (IHBABAMTC for short), I know firsthand how difficult it can be planning the perfect night out for the bride. It can be even more difficult finding ideas that haven’t been overdone (we’re looking at you, penis-shaped everything…). As a result, I have thought long and hard (no pun intended) about some great options that are right here in our glorious city of Edmonton. Without further ado, I introduce to you my Bachelorette Party Ideas List!
1. Champagne and Cupcakes Photo Shoot
Think Vanity Fair afterparty meets Sex and the City. Get your best ladies together for a full glam makeover and photo-shoot. Enjoy champagne (penis-shaped cups are optional) and decadent cupcakes while a professional stylist does your hair and makeup so that you look your absolute best. Then I will take wonderful group portraits for you to cherish for years to come. After the shoot, you are all dolled up and ready to party, so head out on the town to enjoy the bride’s last single night.
Tip: Make it a theme! Little Black Dress, Pink Ladies, Sparkles… the sky is the limit!
Bonus: The bride receives a framed print of her favourite group photo.
2. Pole Dancing, Burlesque, or Barre Classes
This is becoming more and more popular, so it might be the least unique on my list but I don’t care – they’re so fun! Dance classes (especially the risqué kind) are so much fun and you never know what will happen or what someone will say. Many moons ago, I did a stripper class and one day we were learning to sexy crawl and the instructor said, “Now, ladies, pretend you are a lioness crawling through the Savannah hunting her prey.” A quiet, unassuming lady in the back replied, “Can I be a cougar instead?” It still makes me laugh! Now imagine that with your group of besties with your own inside jokes – I bet you could give Amy Poehler and Tina Fey a run for their money. And hey, you just learned some fun new skills to show off to your lover when you get home – Magic Mike ain’t got nothin’ on you!

3. Cooking Classes and Wine Tastings
Note to self: Self, do this for your real life… (said as I burn water).
Julia Child once said, “People who love to eat are the best people.” Preach it, sista! If you are planning a party for the foodie bride, definitely sign up for a cooking class or wine tasting. There are oodles of options in the Edmonton area that will tantalize your taste buds. This would also be great if you are planning to invite the future mother in law and maybe even score some brownie points (pun intended). Bon appetite!
Bonus: This would also be a great way to help the bride narrow down her wedding dinner menu or get ideas for her DIY cookie table.
Tip: Practice your “Hello, my name is Julia Chiiiild” impersonation for guaranteed laughs.

4. Boudoir Mini-Marathon for the Bride and all of the Bridesmaids!
Yes! It IS possible to have your very own mini-boudoir marathon!
Imagine this: The bride and her BFFs bring their favourite lingerie to my studio for a day of pampering. Each lady will get her hair and makeup done by a professional stylist. You will all enjoy mimosas (to ease your nerves) and fresh fruit while getting blissfully pampered. Each one of you will take turns joining me in the private boudoir studio for some beautiful and sexy photos.
Tip: Want something extra? Make it a party! Ask about bringing in an esthetician for pedicures or an erotic toy distributor or a jewelry consultant! Anything is possible!
Bonus: The bride receives a gift voucher to put towards an album of her favourite personal shots to give to her fiancé!
5. Escape Room
For the adventurous bride, I give you the ESCAPE room! Dun dun dun! This would not only be a great team building exercise, but it would also be something so different the bride wouldn’t expect it! The skills you learn in the Escape Room could also come in super handy when you are trying to avoid drunk Aunt Mabel or the grabby groomsmen at the wedding…just sayin’.
Tip: Wear comfy shoes

I hope this list provided proof that penis cups and Las Vegas are not necessarily requirements to have an amazing Bachelorette Party!
