What was the proposal like?
We went on a camping trip to Saskatchewan. We were alone the first night and thought it would be nice to go for a walk, we found a bench that was over looking the valley below us and there was a wedding going on right beside us. We had our daughter with us so he picked her up and put her on his knee and when i looked back they were both kneeling down and he asked me to marry him.
Tell us about the planning process! Was there anything you were worried wouldn’t work, but turned out awesome?
I was always the person who told myself that a million things will go wrong that day but one thing will be right, that we will be married at the end of the day. I didn’t think that the old “you will never feel so beautiful as you did on your wedding day” I didn’t think it was all possible honestly, but it truly went off without any major glitches and I have never felt more beautiful in my entire life as I did that day. It really was the best day.
What was the best moment of the day?
When we brought up our daughter during our vows and read a poem about love and how it isn’t complete without family. We were so happy to have her there with us.
Got any advice for someone planning an Edmonton wedding?
Don’t spend too much time thinking and sweating the small stuff. In the end the only thing that matters if having people around you that love and support your marriage… Not just the awesome party 😉
Is there anything else about your wedding that you’d like to share with us?
In October 2014 my cousins son passed away at 3 years old. It was devastating for us to not have him a part of our day. His favourite thing was spiderman and at his funeral there was a big silk flower display of spiderman colours. I asked my cousin and his wife if one of the blue flowers could be my something blue, so I had Funky Petals incorporate that into my bouquet so I was able to have him with me all day. It was really special.
