We are loving the fun, casual and cheerful vibe of this sweet wedding that started with a first look in the ravine, and continued on to a raging dance party at the Yellowhead Brewery. Even though Chris and Victoria didn’t get married until 6:30pm, they started celebrating early with bocce ball and a family picnic in Rundle Park.
Photography/videography duo Zokah captured the day and all of it’s charm, but the fun began before the wedding day – Zokah was on hand to capture all of the fun that the bridal party had on their pre-wedding camping trip (um… excellent idea, no?). Let’s start with a look at the highlights of that weekend.
Here’s what Zokah had to say about the wedding day…
Before we arrived with the bride to do a first look and some formal photos in the ravine, the boys played some bocce ball. Their wedding was late in the day so they had a little family brunch in Rundle Park before they headed of to their ceremony/reception and after photos were done. There were home made cookies, sandwiches, and pasta salad. Family had decorated the tables with white tablecloths and more beautiful flowers from Holes in the cutest jars I have ever seen!
Enough from us – let’s hear what Chris and Victoria had to say about their wedding!
How did you and your partner meet?
We officially met in high school but it wasn’t until a few years after graduating that we became neighbours and then best friends.
Tell us a bit about the proposal?
Pretty misty, cloudy day on Vancouver Island. I had purchased a ring from a little used jewelry shop the day before, and I asked Tor if she wanted to go for a little hike. We climbed up Mount Douglas. About halfway we stopped to look down at the water, and as were sitting on a little log I asked Tor to marry me, she said yes almost immediately. Phew!
How were you feeling the morning of the wedding?
Pretty excited. Tons of family and friends from out of town were around which was super exciting! I was pretty nervous about having to say my vows in front of people but a little nervousness is probably good.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Three highlights. 1) We went on a pre-wedding camping trip which was super fun. Got to hang out with lots of friends and do a few great hikes/walks. It was lots of fun before the chaos and busy-ness of the actual wedding day. 2) Victoria’s vows to me were really beautiful. Makes me smile all the time. 3) Finally, DANCING!!!!
Any shout outs for the vendors who made your day feel extra special?
Zac and Monikah were really fantastic. I mean, I knew them before they started to really get into wedding photography and it was awesome to experience their passion and skill. They were extremely accommodating and really fun people to have around on a wedding day. A+. The flowers from Holes greenhouse were also extremely beautiful and the staff was also very helpful. Highly recommend. Also if you need a suit and you are in Victoria, Outlooks Menswear is awesome. Again, really nice staff and comfy suits. Kyle Schnieder was the DJ and killed it. So much dancing!
