Morgan and Mike were married this summer in a beautiful wedding ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. we absolutely love how this couple nailed the classy details of their wedding: bridesmaids in black, flowers in white, and a host of timeless, elegant details, including breathtaking Tiffany rings. read on for the proposal story, more of Danielle Lucier’s gorgeous photos of the wedding, and details on what vendors brought this bride and groom’s vision to life.
how did you meet?
We met at a birthday party in downtown Edmonton through mutual friends. We did go to high school together (different grades) but never met.
what was the proposal like?
Mike took me on a surprise trip to Banff weeks after I started my first teaching job. We went golfing at the Banff Springs. He had the worst golf game of his life, on the 9th hole I putted the ball (missed about 5 times) and in the hole was a ring, I turned around and he was on one knee and asked me to marry him.
tell us about the planning process! was there anything you were worried wouldn’t work, but turned out awesome?
The planning process was stressful yet so fun. My mom was my wedding planner she made all the phone calls and organized the details. I loved having so many choices such as flowers and colours and themes. We started planning shortly after the engagement and had a few months to get everything booked and finalized. Planning consisted of cake tasting, linen shopping, dress shopping, hair and make up trials… and the list goes on. I wasn’t worried about one thing not working out, and looking back on my wedding I feel everything turned out amazing.
what was the best moment of the day?
The best moment of the day was…. umm I can’t pin point one moment! I can list a few: seeing my husband for the first time while walking down the aisle, listening to the incredible speeches our bridal party gave, having both my mom and dad walk me down the aisle, seeing both our families together celebrating, and – of course – saying “I do”!
got any advice for someone planning an edmonton wedding?
Edmonton has some incredible locations and vendors – choose what fits you the best. There are so many options, so follow your instinct and the vision you have for your wedding and the rest will come. The stress and craziness lasts months but your wedding is only one day so when planning keep that in mind, allow yourself to enjoy the day!
