last sunday, i had the pleasure of taking in the 2015 Wedding Showcase at the Delta Edmonton South Hotel. their showcase featured a collection of decor and services from their network of preferred vendors, spread throughout the three main wedding and event spaces in the hotel. every detail on display was on point, complemented by fantastic food and drinks and high-energy entertainment.
the first area that i explored was the biggest event space, the Grande Ballroom. with music by Revolution DJ and decor by a variety of planning and rental companies, the entire ballroom offered a host of decor inspiration. one one sire of the venue, A Chair To Remember had set up a variety of lush tablescapes for different aesthetics. they covered everything from the ultra-feminine and frilly with ruffled cascading chair covers to a more sophisticated and modern look that paired navy and lime green with striped accents. the finishing touch on most of their tables were flowers by Samantha of Flowers in the Park, who once again showed major versatility in her designs.
the other half of the room was styled by Dress My Day and featured some of my favourite looks of the showcase. first, there was a unique custom-made circular backdrop – i don’t think i’ve ever seen anything like it. next, there was a bold and colourful backdrop with low seating, which is ideal for a sangeet or mehndi party, a typical part of an Indian wedding. i loved that the vibrant colours of the backdrop were highlighted with uplighting, and featured two gorgeous gold kettles. in addition, Dress My Day has set up a collection of small tablescapes, each displaying a different style… there was everything from rustic to contemporary and minimal.
the next room we explored was the Crystal Gallery, where Tarcy of Advanced DJ was providing a great soundtrack as well as a fun photo booth. what I really liked about his photo booth was that it was open, with no ceiling, tent or enclosure. you can see all the fun that is happening in the photo booth and plenty of people can pop in to join in on the fun, rather be than being limited by space.
i simply cannot fail to mention the incredible food and drinks that were served by the Delta. there was a large selection of food to taste, as well as different entrée options on display. every single thing i tried was delicious. the appetizers and finger food options were inventive, and included mini philly cheesesteak sliders, sesame waffle cones filled with seafood and mini beef wellington. we were even served martinis that were poured into our glasses through an ice sculpture – everything about the food and drinks was impressive.
lastly, we went to one of my favourite spaces in the hotel, the Top of the Inn. if you’ve driven past the Delta at night you’ve probably noticed the ceiling of the room flickering in lighting that mimics the stars. it is a beautiful venue, and it boasts one of the best city skyline views of any wedding venue in the city. music here was provided by Baseline Services and the entire room was dressed by Special Event Rentals.
all in all, i truly enjoyed the showcase… the Delta is already one of my favourite venues to DJ at, and this afternoon was a lovely and thorough showcase of just what the Delta Edmonton South Hotel you and their chosen partners can do for you on your wedding day.
