you know we love couples who like to do things a bit different, and show a little (or a lot of) personality in their wedding. when first starting the venue search, it can seem like the bulk of options are divided between churches, hotels and community halls. however, if you’re looking for something a little outside the box, you have no shortage of options! there are scores of unique wedding venues for a wedding ceremony or reception in edmonton. this is the first post in a series on unique wedding venues in edmonton – because we’d love for you to find a venue that is absolutely perfect for you! (update: part two is here!)
Art Gallery of Alberta – Outdoor Sculpture Terrace (rooftop)
with some of the most spectacular architecture in edmonton, and views of Winston Churchill Square, the Outdoor Sculpture Terrace at the AGA is one of edmonton’s most contemporary and stylish wedding venues. click here to visit the AGA website for more details.
Santa Maria Pirate Ship- West Edmonton Mall
yes. yes you can get married on a pirate ship in edmonton. i personally would love to see an entirely pirate-themed wedding on the ship, but even for those of you less inclined to the idea of a themed wedding, a wedding ceremony on the Santa Maria is still pretty fun and definitely unique! click here for more details about the ship.
Edmonton High Level Bridge Streetcar
edmonton’s beloved streetcar may be well-known, but it’s safe to say that tying the knot hundreds of metres above the North Saskatchewan River on the High Level Bridge is pretty unique! click here for more information on the Streetcar.
those four iconic pyramids nestled in the river valley hardly need an introduction. however, the Muttart has become one of my favourite places for a wedding. the foyer and classrooms in the centre of the Conservatory make a unique and versatile reception space, and the rest of the centre boasts a number of areas that are ideal for a wedding ceremony, including inside the breathtaking pyramids. want an ‘outdoor’ wedding? the Muttart makes that possible, all year round. more info here.
