as i looked through the many fantastic images from sheena and jarod’s engagement, i couldn’t keep myself from smiling – the absolute joy that these two share is unmistakeable, and Trisha Poitras of Live Love Laugh Photography captured the emotion exquisitely. the session was even a treat to phottograph – trisha says, ‘from the moment i met the couple, i knew they were something special: funny, excited and completely in love. they really made my job simple! an easy, breezy shoot with fun results makes me so much more excited to photograph their wedding in cancun in october.’
jarod was happy to share a bit of the proposal story with yegwed. it involves a ring (of course!), a bit of patience, and a lot of help from the couple’s fur baby:
‘after dating for nearly four years and shopping for an engagement ring together, i knew that i needed to come up with a way to propose that was truly unique and would mean as much to sheena as she does to me. i came up with a few different ideas but none of them had the personal touch that i was looking for. then it hit me: what’s the one thing that means most to her in the world (aside from me, of course)? our little miniature pinscher, keira! i knew i had to come up with a way to have keira involved in the proposal. the solution? t got a custom name tag for keira, with the big question engraved on it. now i just had to find the perfect time to get the collar on keira and put my plan in motion. now, keira is usually pretty cooperative, but i only had one shot at this and i wanted to make it count. i kept the collar with me for about a week but the perfect time just never seemed to present itself. one night after we had got back from a family BBQ, and keira was upstairs, i made up an excuse to go upstairs, knowing that i just needed a bit of time to get the collar on so i could finally propose to the most amazing woman in the world. we had planned to watch a movie and sheena started to wonder what was taking me so long to get back downstairs as she could hear me talking quietly to keira. i told her that i would be down right away and then convinced keira to go downstairs. well, keira did everything that I could have possibly asked for – she hopped onto the couch and right onto sheena and the tag on the collar spun perfectly for sheena to read, she said yes! i’d like to think that i came up with a one of a kind proposal idea, but I’ll always have Keira to thank for making it all come together.’
now there’s only one thing that can top such a sweet proposal story – the engagement photos! normally, when i’m selecting photos to feature, i try to include a balance of tender, romantic photos with the ones with big smiles. sheena and jarod’s huge, heartfelt smiles dominated this session, and i couldn’t help but include many photos that show off the fun that these two have together. them smiles are contagious! enjoy!
